NEWS FLASH - Universal Credit begins rollout in South Tyneside. (See News & Events for more details)

You can access our services in three ways:

1. Bureau 'Drop-In' Advice Sessions

If you need advice or information you can attend our 'drop-in' advice sessions at our offices in South Shields and Jarrow during our opening Advice Times. You will be given a short 'gateway' assessment interview, which will explore your enquiry and assess what your advice needs are.

The gateway assessment will decide which option is best for your needs from the following:-

  1. Simple information provided at the gateway interview
  2. Assisted self-help provided at the gateway interview
  3. An appointment with our generalist advice service
  4. An appointment with our specialist advice service
  5. Referral to a more appropriate agency

2. Telephone Advice

If you are unable to attend the Bureau we may be able to assist you with Telephone Advice depending on the nature and complexity of your enquiry. A call to our telephone advice line will quickly establish the best way to deal with your enquiry.

Telephone Advice: 0844 4994 715. Lines are open Monday to Friday 10:30am to 1:30pm

Debt Hotline: 07947899163

Energy Advice Hotline: 07949490785

Call charges – 5 pence per minute on a BT landline. Calls from other networks and mobiles may vary.

3. Internet

You can visit the National Citizens Advice website www.adviceguide.org.uk, where you can find information about all the main areas of advice, including: Welfare Benefits, Debt, Housing, Employment, Consumer, Family, etc.

If you are unclear about the information obtained from the website please call our Telephone Advice line where an advisor will be happy to assist you further.

You can also download useful Fact Sheets that gives advice and information on a wide range of subjects.
